9.5 million euros could be saved in 2019 budget
The Interim Board of "Rīgas satiksme" has found a possibility of saving EUR 9.5 million in this year’s budget, Chairman of the Interim Board Anrijs Matīss announced after the board’s meeting.
It is planned that savings will be made on some repair works, purchase of fixed assets, investments in information systems etc. The goal of the Interim Board is to keep the municipal subsidy on the last year level, when Riga City Council granted EUR 122 M in subsidy to "Rīgas satiksme".
A.Matīss emphasises that this budget cut will not affect the company’s employees, as the budget will still provide for an increase in salaries. Passengers should not worry that ticket prices may be increased either. Still, "Rīgas satiksme" will calculate the prime costs of tickets more precisely, yet this will have direct effect on the subsidy amount only.
